The Washington Rotary Club’s largest annual fundraiser returns for its 30th year after its cancellation last year.

The club is hosting its turkey dinner on Monday, September 13th from 4:30-7 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church. The meal includes grilled turkey, baked potato, coleslaw, roll, and dessert with a hot dog option for children. Onsite dining will be offered as well as a drive-through pick up instead of the carry-out option of years’ past, and President Brett Pierson says there should be plenty of signage to help direct traffic. Pierson shares what this event is raising funds for, “Our 100th anniversary project because last year was actually our 100th anniversary for rotary, is we’re building a shelter or pavilion out at the new Wellness Park just north of the Y there and that’s going to be our 100th project. Been something we’ve wanted to do since last year and it’s been kind of a slow go getting everything going but we are very excited that we’re going to be able to fund that both with a grant from Rotary International and then also through our own funds as well and the turkey dinner is one of the things that contributes to that.”

Cost of the shelter is estimated near $35,000 and Pierson says they are looking to fundraise for picnic tables in addition. Proceeds from the dinner also go to scholarships they award to two graduating Washington seniors. Cost is $11 for the turkey meal and $5 for the hot dog option, with kids under five years old eating for free onsite only.
