The KCII Severe Weather Action Team was live on air for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning Monday night.
The warning was issued at 7:13 p.m. for southern Washington, northwestern Henry, and Jefferson counties and was allowed to expire at 8 p.m. Hazards included 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts and penny size hail. Trained weather spotters reported 70 mile-per-hour winds in rural Jefferson County as well as a tree and power lines down near Batavia. Six members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team brought live coverage of the storm and had the power gone out, KCII would have remained on air with our backup generator. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. for Washington County. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
