It was a tough night for volleyballers from Kalona and Wellman on Thursday as both the Hillcrest Academy Ravens and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks suffered setbacks in conference matches. The Highland Huskies were winners at Hillcrest Union in Kalona in a tightly contested match over the host Ravens in four sets 26-24, 15-25, 25-23 and 25-23. With the win, Highland improves to 10-11, Hillcrest falls to 7-20. Both teams will be at the Washington Demon tournament Saturday.

The Mid-Prairie volleyball team saw their four match River Valley Conference winning streak come to an end at Monticello against the Panthers who are on top of the River Valley North standings. Monticello swept through the Hawks by scores of 26-24, 25-12 and 25-13. With the loss, Mid-Prairie is now 12-8 overall as they prepare for the Clear Creek Amana Tournament Saturday.
