The one seed in Class 1A District 6 already belongs to the Sigourney-Keota football team, but the Cobras can cap off their second consecutive perfect regular season tomorrow with a win when they welcome Van Buren for senior night.

The Cobras are 7-0 and clinched at least a share of the league crown after a 37-9 win over Central Decatur last week. Colten Clarahan threw for 201 yards, a high water mark for the season to put the senior at 352 for the year on 17 of 36 completed passes. The team’s 2,288 rushing yards rank second in class 1A and Cade Molyneux leads the way with 1,481 and 19 touchdowns. The Cobra defense has surrendered just 12 points a game and they will go up against a Warrior offense that puts up 23 points a night. Jackson Manning has completed 47% of his passes for 628 yards and nine touchdowns. The defense gives up 29 points an outing, but is opportunistic with 19 takeaways including 13 interceptions this fall.

Cobra Head Coach Jared Jensen tells KCII Sports this is a big springboard game heading into the postseason. “With the guys we have and the leadership we have, this is not going to be a letdown game. We are going to come out and get after them. We have to prepare ourselves for the playoffs next week and have a solid night.” S-K has won all five meetings between these schools since 2016 by a combined tally of 268-43.

The week eight action begins at 7 p.m. Friday in Sigourney.
