Second place in 8-player, district 6 is on the line in North English when English Valleys welcomes Winfield-Mt. Union for a battle on the gridiron in the final week of the regular season.
The Wolves sit at 4-2 overall, 3-2 in the league, and could clinch a spot in the playoffs with a win or New London loss to HLV. If neither happens, the WMU postseason hopes would fall on the fate of the two wildcard selections based on point differential. The Wolves fell to WACO 47-20 last week, but in the loss Cam Buffington eclipsed 2,000 yards of total offense for the season. The sophomore has accounted for 2,008 yards with 33 touchdowns including 16 through the air. His main target is Abram Edwards with 26 receptions for 550 yards and nine scores. The Bears have been rolling the last three weeks and come in with a 5-1 overall mark and 4-1 in the district. Beau Flander brings the fireworks with 1,077 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. The game could come down to what defense can create the most stops with the WMU offense averaging 45 points a night and EV records 35 a contest.
The chance to clinch a playoff spot begins at 7 p.m. at English Valleys High School.
