fall-colors-2

Parts of Iowa are beginning to show peak fall colors with the KCII-listening area still waiting for changes to the scenery.

The third fall color report for the state was released by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources this week. Overall, the southeast landscape is still green with hickory and urban maple showing some colors. Cottonwood, walnut, silver maple, and elm trees are starting to show some yellow and brown. Poison ivy, dogwood, white ash, and sumac are showing reds and a little purple. Northeast Iowa reported peak fall colors this week. All species are turning color except for oak trees. Recent warmer weather has extended the peak color season for another week.
