A Washington man has been given a deferred judgment for an August 25th incident.
Court records show that through a plea agreement 40-year-old William Franklin Salyers was given a deferred judgment on charges of class D felony eluding and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor. A count of operating while under the influence first offense was dismissed. Salyers is placed on three years of probation and must pay $1,080 in statutory civil penalties and category B restitution. The charges stemmed from an incident in which Salyers was alleged to have jumped into a white Dodge diesel truck near the intersection of North 4th Avenue and East 3rd Street in Washington. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen vehicle near the intersection of County Road G36 and North 12th Avenue when a pursuit ensued. Salyers eventually pulled over just west of Highway 218 and was placed under arrest.
