The Mid-Prairie and Washington High School marching bands came out on top in the Iowa High School Music Association Marching Band Festival Saturday.
For their final competition of the season the Demons and Golden Hawks each received Division I rankings in the class 3A and 2A divisions, respectively. This was the first competition season since 2019 for both schools. Of the five competitions Washington participated in, they received first place in their division at the Davis County Festival of Bands, and Mateo Salazar and Bailey Rees were awarded outstanding senior and junior drum majors at the Fort Madison competition. Mid-Prairie also clenched first place at the Muskie Invite in Muscatine. The public is welcome to see this season’s Mid-Prairie marching performance in concert today at 7:15 p.m. in the high school gym. The Washington Marching Band will also be hosting a concert this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the high school varsity gym.
