The Ainsworth Community Together organization is inviting area families to celebrate the season at their first fall festival event.
The day-long festival on October 30th will include several events at the Ainsworth Opera House and Community Center: a vendor sale, silent auction, “Antique Roadshow” with Mike Zahs, and live music. Outdoor activities include kids games, a collector car show, citywide garage sale, softball tournament, and costume and fall parade. A.C.T volunteer Sherrie Hazen says the group tries to host a community event once a month and the five volunteer members on the community board came up with the idea to host a fall festival. Hazen shares why they feel it is important to host community events like the festival, “Our Ainsworth Community Together mission statement is ‘building relationships within the community.’ And we use volunteers to do that, to kind of promote the idea of volunteer efforts. So we get all ages involved with these volunteers. We promote family and community activities and we do a lot of historical things too. To make people aware of what’s important about the history of their area.”
Checkers and Euchre tournaments at the opera house and the Leroy Brown Halloween Party with a performance by The Boys will conclude the day. A full schedule of the day’s activities and a map of garage sales can be picked up at the opera house that day. Hazen extends a thank you to all businesses that are supporting the festival.
