The postseason started on the right foot Monday for the Sigourney volleyball team when they welcomed Tri-County for a first round class 1A region 6 matchup and had little trouble in a sweep.

Having already beat the Trojans (3-24) twice in the regular season, the Savages continued their dominance in this one with set scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-17. Raegan Rozenboom led the squad with eight kills, 17 digs, and was successful on 19 of 20 serves with two aces. Brookelyn Hemsley managed 23 assists, Amiya Smallwood and Emma Hammes had four blocks, and Maddie Hornback recorded 29 digs.

Head Coach Steven Sattz tells KCII Sports his team was ready to go. “They were very energetic headed into the game. We really focused on working together as a unit and when all six of our girls are firing on the court, we are a team that can do some damage. We did that Monday and hopefully that continues.”

Sigourney improves to 16-13 and advances to today’s quarterfinal round hosting Iowa Valley. The Tigers are 13-25 and both squads split a pair of meetings in the regular season. The chance to move on begins at 7 p.m. tonight in Sigourney.
