A Washington man was arrested after a vehicle pursuit Saturday night.

Court records show that at about 8:05 p.m. a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was advised of a possible intoxicated driver southbound on Airport Road from Washington. The deputy then observed a Chevy Malibu coming back into town near the 1400 block of East Washington Street. As the vehicle went past the deputy the driver’s side brake light was observed to not be working.

The deputy activated emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop for that violation, and the suspect then slowed down and turned into an alleyway. The driver was observed moving around in the car and a beer box was seen being tossed around in the vehicle. The vehicle came to a stop just before the stop sign at 11th Avenue and East 2nd Street but then took off, running the stop sign, turning onto East 2nd Street and running through the stop sign intersections at North 12th and 15th avenues at which he then ran into Evans Welding. The suspect then drove away and was eventually stopped at Palm Avenue and Highway 92.

The driver, 20-year-old Brant Garret Stout was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail. There Stout failed a field sobriety test and gave a preliminary breath test indicating his blood alcohol level was .159%. Stout was charged with class D felony eluding, operating while under the influence, a serious misdemeanor, four stop sign violations, driving 70 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone, underage possession of alcohol, underage use of tobacco or vape product, and improper rear lamp. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
