Mid-Prairie running back Tyler Helmuth has made many visits to the end zone during the 2021 football season. The Golden Hawk senior has rushed for 745 yards and 16 touchdowns on 98 carries during the campaign. Those 16 scoring runs place him in a ninth place tie for most touchdowns in a single season for a Mid-Prairie player. He’s even with Kevin Kos’ year in 1975. His 96 points scored this year are 11th most for an athlete in one season wearing the black and gold.

For his career Helmuth has accounted for 991 yards and 19 touchdowns across three years with Mid-Prairie. The next chance for him to add to that total is Friday, when the Golden Hawks travel to State Center for a second round class 2A playoff matchup with No. 3 West Marshall. You can hear all of the action between the Hawks and Trojans live on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIradio.com, beginning with the Washington HyVee pregame show at 6:30 and Systems Unlimited Kickoff at 7p.m.
