The Riverside City Council looked over changes to the construction plans for Railroad Park during their regular meeting on October 18th.

Axiom Consultants presented the council with designs for new amenities at Railroad Park. The changes include a six-foot sidewalk instead of a five-foot sidewalk on the perimeter path to allow more room for bikers and skaters and adding signage for mile markers or number of laps per mile for those using the perimeter loop. Another consideration was given on whether to  save the river birch tree on the island in the parking lot and if the tree couldn’t be saved then the island would be turned into two additional parking spaces. The final addition was a sidewalk connection to the west end of the picnic shelter. At their next regular meeting, the council will approve the final design, cost estimates and move forward to receive bids for the project.
