The Washington McDonald’s is one of 22 restaurants across Iowa that will be under new ownership as of Thursday.
Local McDonald’s owner and operator Kevin O’Brien announced his retirement this week. The O’Brien Family McDonald’s group began in 1958 with his parents Dorothy and Bill opening their first restaurant. It grew to be the largest McDonald’s franchise group in Iowa including Washington, Ames, Boone, Carroll, Cedar Rapids, Marshalltown, Muscatine, Nevada, North Liberty, Story City, Walcott, West Branch, and Williamsburg. O’Brien states that the locations will remain open under new ownership.
