While younger sister Danielle was keeping the cross country legacy alive for the Hostetler family at last week’s class 2A state meet in Fort Dodge by winning the sister’s sixth consecutive individual title and helping Mid-Prairie to their record tying fifth straight team championship, older sisters Anna and Marie were adding to their collegiate accolades. Both sisters are members of the women’s cross country team at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Lady Flames entered last weekend’s Atlantic Sun Conference Championship meet at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida as the defending league champs and ranked No. 24 in the country. Anna and Marie Hostetler helped the Flames burn up the competition and make it back-to-back conference titles. Liberty won the meet with a score of 36, beating second place Lipscomb’s 48 points.
The Hostetler sisters each finished in the top 25, led by Anna in sixth with a time of 17:17, earning first team all-conference honors. Marie was 21st in 17:59. Other Liberty runners included individual Atlantic Sun Champion and conference runner of the year Calli Doan with her title time of 16:57, Adelyn Ackley third, Noel Palmer 12th, Grace Dwyer 14th, Jamie Anderson 23rd, Kyley Sorg 31st and Kristiana Young 34th. Anna is a senior and Marie is a sophomore on this year’s edition of the Lady Flames. Liberty earned it’s first ever national ranking earlier this season is gearing up to run at the NCAA Division Southeast Regional Championship meet Friday in Louisville, Kentucky
