Contents were lost in a storage unit fire south of Washington Sunday evening.
The Washington County Communications Center received a call at about 5:30 p.m. reporting smoke coming from a couple of storage units at 2664 Wayland Road. The Washington and Ainsworth fire departments responded to extinguish the blaze. Washington Fire Chief Brendan DeLong says his crew left the scene at about 7:30 p.m. The contents of three storage units were a total loss, though the building was salvageable. Cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The property owners were contacted and responded, as well as Washington EMS, Washington County Rescue, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Ambulance Service, and Alliant Energy.
