Communities in the KCII listening area will be honoring those who have served our country this Thursday in observance of Veterans Day.
The Washington School District will be hosting American Legion Post 29 members to present a Veterans Day assembly at 3 p.m. in the middle school gym. Those from the public wishing to attend must enter Door 2 on the south side and proceed to the gym stairs and sit in the south balcony. The Mid-Prairie High School Student Leadership Team and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America organization, are inviting the public to a Veterans Day Assembly and luncheon at 10:15 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. The assembly will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the luncheon following directly after. Winfield-Mt. Union is inviting community members, students, local veterans and their families to their assembly this Thursday at 9 a.m. in the big gym. Light refreshments will be served following the assembly. Community members are encouraged to contact the school with any questions. The Riverside VFW is inviting residents to a special flag ceremony performed by members of the Riverside VFW Post 6414 at 10:15 a.m. at the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort and 11 a.m. at the Riverside Veterans Memorial Park. Shortly following the ceremonies, all veterans are welcome to the VFW post for lunch at noon. The Riverside Casino will also be hosting a lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is free for veterans and $17.99 for non-veterans.
