The IAwrestle.com preseason poll has been released and several small schools in the KCII listening area are represented in the high school wrestling rankings.

Sigourney-Keota brings all of their weapons back and is ranked eighth as a team in the dual rankings for class 1A. They also have three ranked individually including Cade Molyneux seventh at 160 lbs, Jack Clarahan 12th at 170 lbs, and Cade Streigle eighth at 195 lbs. Molyneux and Streigle qualified for state last winter with Streigle finishing 34-15 overall and Molyneux was 24-13. Clarahan just missed a state bid and finished 40-7 as a sophomore. Highland’s Easton Schlabaugh is slotted at number two for 106 lbs and teammate Carlos Valenzuela is 12th at 126 lbs. Schlabaugh was fifth at Wells Fargo as a sophomore with a 39-8 record and Valenzuela was 26-10.

Additionally, one grappler from Columbus Community/Winfield-Mt. Union was recognized in Lane Scorpil being ranked second at 120 lbs in class 2A. The senior has been a three time podium finisher in Des Moines and last year placed third at 113 lbs.

The first night of wrestling meets in Southeast Iowa is set for Tuesday, November 30th.
