Foster Woods Pond near Wellman received an upgrade with the help of a local boy scout.
Troop 234 scout Jacob Donaldson constructed and installed benches at the park for his Eagle service project. The Washington County Conservation Board approved Donaldson’s proposal last July. Conservation Executive Director Zach Rozmus shares his thoughts on the final product, “It was a great project to kind of work its way through. We’re very fortunate that we were able to get some materials, quite a bit of materials, donated from Kalona Post and Frame. So that was a great kind of cherry on top of that project too, to be able to have some of those materials donated toward the project. Ultimately everyone is going to be able to benefit, from a community perspective, to be able to go out there and use those benches.”
Donaldson and members of his troop performed most of the construction on the two new benches. Funding for the project came from donations as well as support from Washington County Conservation. Rozmus and a group of scouts installed the benches together in late September.
