A Hillsboro man was recently granted a deferred judgment on a child pornography charge.
Courts records show 41-year-old Steven Porter was given a deferred judgment on a charge of purchase or possession of depictions of a minor in sexual acts first offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. Three additional counts were dismissed by the court. Porter must serve two years of probation and pay a fine of $855.
The charges stem from an investigation beginning on January 25th of this year. The Henry County Sheriff’s office received a tip related to child pornography received from the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. On February 1st, a search warrant was executed of his home, leading to Porter’s arrest on March 2nd.
