As family and friends gather around the dinner table for Thanksgiving, residents should expect closures throughout Washington County.

Kalona, Riverside and Wellman city halls will be closed Thursday and Friday. The Kalona Public Library will be closed Thursday through Saturday with the Wellman-Scofield Public Library closing at 4 p.m. tomorrow and reopening from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday. The Kalona YMCA will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow and the Wellman Y will be open from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. with both facilities closed Thursday and open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. The Wellman Skating Rink will be closed Thursday and Friday. Goodwin Senior Dining Center will not be serving meals Thursday and Friday with garbage pick-up in Wellman moved to Friday. Banking institutions and postal services will be taking a break Thursday to observe the holiday.

Mid-Prairie students are dismissed for Thanksgiving break at the end of the school day today. Students in the Highland School District will be released early tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. with no school Thursday and Friday. Hillcrest will also have an early dismissal at 1:55 p.m. tomorrow with no classes in session on Thanksgiving and Friday.
