Iowans purchasing or changing their Affordable Care Act individual health insurance coverage have options to switch to during the open enrollment period lasting through January 15th, 2022. 

Those who wish to purchase ACA-compliant coverage must complete enrollment before December 15th for coverage to begin January 1st, 2022.  For those enrolling between December 16th and January 15th, 2022, coverage will begin February 1st, 2022. If you currently have coverage through the exchange and do not choose a plan for 2022 by the end of open enrollment, you will be re-enrolled into the same or similar plan. If you are considering changing insurance carriers, the Iowa Insurance Division encourages you to double check to ensure your preferred healthcare providers are in network and your prescription medication will continue to be covered.
