Put your candy-coated crafting skills to the test this month at the Washington Public Library.
The public is invited to bring their uniquely decorated gingerbread house to the library for a contest from now through December 20th. Those submitted will be displayed throughout December, and Youth Services Librarian Jenisa Harris says voting will end on December 22nd, “There will be prize categories in childrens, teens, and adults so we encourage all ages to bring one in. All skill levels, and I’m excited to see all the different entries for that.”
The winners will be announced on December 30th. Area youth can continue their sugar decorating rush during a “FriYAY Funday – Cupcake Wars” event on Friday, December 10th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Nicola Stoufer Room. The program is open to grades K-12, and the cupcakes and frosting will be provided. To preregister for this and other December events at the Washington Public Library call 319-653-2726.
