A pair of Louisa County rivals met in Wapello Tuesday when the Indians and Arrows hosted the Columbus Wildcats. In the girls contest it was Wapello posting a 49-23 win. The Arrows controlled the first half, leading 18-4 after one quarter and riding an 11-2 run that spanned the entire second frame to take a 29-6 lead into the break. Wapello won the second half 20-17 to put the game away. Wapello put three in double figures with Serah Shafer at 15 points, Tatum Wolford 14 and Lindsy Massner 10. Sera Vela led the Wildcat attack with eight points.
After a tight first quarter, Wapello pulled away in the boys contest for a 58-20 victory. Things stood at 12-10 Indians after the first eight minutes but from there, Wapello outscored Columbus 46-10 the rest of the way including 25-3 in the second half. Timothy Hills led the Wildcats with seven points. The Columbus boys are 0-1, while the Columbus girls stand at 1-3. The Wildcat boys and girls gear up for another rivalry doubleheader Friday when they host Louisa-Muscatine.
