The 2021-22 bowling season started up on Monday for Washington when they competed at Flamingo Lanes for a Southeast Conference showdown with Fairfield.
The Demon boys were edged by the Trojans in the final tally by a score of 2,033-2,012. The orange and black had the upper hand in individual games with 1,356 pins to 1,339, but a 694-656 baker game count in favor of Fairfield was the difference. Senior Ethan Zieglowsky bested the whole field with a two-game series of 402 including a high game of 207. Caleb Zieglowsky tallied fourth with 273, Cashden Pepper sixth with 243, Cole Anderson eighth with 220, Quentin Howard 10th with 218, and Ismat Abdurahimov 12th with 197. The Washington girls had just two bowlers to Fairfield’s four and lost 1,481-517. Leigha Heisdorffer rolled a 228 to place fifth and Emma Chenoweth was sixth with 135.
Both Demon squads start the year 0-1 and get back on the lanes Monday in Muscatine.
