The Hillcrest Academy boys and girls basketball teams hit the road for Louisa-Muscatine tonight and a Southeast Iowa Superconference Doubleheader against the Falcons. The Hillcrest boys come into the game with an overall record of 1-1 after protecting their home floor Friday against Wapello 51-43. Through two games the Ravens are scoring 43 per night, giving up 47, shooting 36% from the floor, 28% from downtown and 78% at the line. They average 22 rebounds, 13 assists, six steals and 15 turnovers per game. Individually, Hillcrest is led by Grant Bender at 18 points per game including 25 against Wapello. He also leads the Ravens with six boards per contest. Noah Miller is the assist leader at four per game.

Louisa-Muscatine is 0-2 on the season after losses to Keota and Columbus to open the campaign. Last time out the Falcons lost to the rival Wildcats 53-50, despite 20 points from Dawson Downing and 18 from Xander Bieri. On the year, L-M scores 46 per game, gives up 53 per game, shoots 38% from the floor, 24% behind the arc and 50% at the line. They pull in 24 rebounds, dish out 10 assists, grab 11 steals and commit 25 turnovers per game. Individually, they are led by Downing and Bieri at 16 and 13 points per night respectively. Dru Raisbeck is good for a team best seven boards per night and Jesse Reinier leads the Falcons at four assists per game. Hillcrest has 21 of the last 25 in this series including 10 of the last 11 with the two schools splitting last year’s series.

The Hillcrest girls enter in search of their first win of the season following a 44-28 loss to Wapello in Kalona Friday. Malia Yoder and Esther Hughes led Hillcrest with seven points each. The Ravens have also dropped games to Mediapolis, Winfield-Mt. Union and Tri-County to start the season. L-M has started the season hot at 3-0, beating Wapello, Keota and Columbus. They pounded their rivals from CJ Friday 49-13 in their last game. On the season, the Falcons are shooting 42% from the floor, 31% from downtown, and 41% at the line. They average 23 rebounds, seven assists, seven steals and nine turnovers per game. Individually, L-M is led by Kaylee Corbin averaging a double double of 17 points and 13 rebounds per night. McKenzie Kissel has six steals per game and McKenna Hohenadel three assists. The Falcons have won 15 of the last 22 in the series including nine of the last 10. Action starts tonight at 6p.m. in Letts.
