Students at Mid-Prairie High School are set to take patrons back to a time of kings, queens and knights as a part of the 28th annual Mid-Prairie Madrigal Dinner.

The five-course catered dinner will be highlighted by performances from the high school choir among other groups. Various songs and a play will be performed to help create a medieval ambiance. Choir members Sam Harris and Liv Caskey were voted as the king and queen of the royal court and will serve as representatives of the top singers and musicians at Mid-Prairie. After having a modified performance and limited seating last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dinner will be back to full capacity this year. Caskey shares her thoughts on returning to a more normal performance, “I’m very excited and grateful to be able to do this. It’s just the fact that we were also on the court in years past and so this last year was different and this year is finally back to normal. It’s just really crazy to finally be like, ‘Oh yeah. This is how normal works.’”

Harris  encourages the public to come experience the unique event for themselves, “I think the madrigal dinner is kind of like watching a movie or something. It’s like an escape from reality, something to do that’s fun. It’s just a good time overall.”

The dinner will take place Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 6 and Sunday at 5 in the Mid-Prairie High School cafetorium. Tickets for each dinner are currently sold out and there is a waiting list.
