Meat Loaf said it best, “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad.” The Washington grapplers made a trip north to Anamosa last night for a quadrangular meet and the Demons went 2-1 in duals.
Washington had the upper hand against Central Elkader 60-9 and Anamosa 42-36 before being edged by Center Point-Urbana 40-37. The orange and black won 14 of 24 matches on the evening with three of them coming from Aaron Boone at 113 lbs. The freshman collected three pins in a combined 5:31. Demons that picked up two contested match victories included Chase Greiner at 160 lbs (7-5 decision, fall :35), Summit Keith at 170 lbs (13-1 MD, fall :29), Logan Frazer at 182 lbs (fall :23, fall :51), and Colley Billingsly at 220 lbs (fall :44, fall :58). Other wins came from Jack Kleese at 126 lbs (fall 1:37), Jude Carter at 132 lbs (fall 4:32), and Lane Schrock at 138 lbs (fall 4:00).
Washington improves the dual record to 8-3 and they return to the mat tomorrow hosting Fairfield.
