The spotlight is on Hillcrest Academy choir and band students for their Christmas concert tomorrow afternoon.
Kicking off the show will be a performance of three percussion ensemble pieces from the freshman Introduction to Music class. The instrumental ensemble group will follow with an arrangement of Silent Night. The jazz band will bring their twist to We Wish You a Merry Christmas among other songs. The percussion ensemble group will follow with a showing of Jingle Bells, Feliz Navidad and Deck the Halls. “Christmas, What a Gift” is the theme for this year’s choir performance. Each of the three sections will be performing three songs to round out the night. Instrumental band teacher Shawn Sandersfeld shares his thoughts on what it means to be able to perform in front of a full crowd this year after facing restrictions and cancellations during the previous year, “It really means a lot. You probably know the facility there, Celebration Hall, is a fantastic auditorium. And just to be able to invite people in and have people there and showcase the students and all of the talent they have, we’re really looking forward to it.”
The concert begins at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Celebration Hall at Hillcrest Academy. A freewill donation will be accepted.
