keota-eagles

A road trip to Victor was on tap for the Keota basketball teams on Friday and the Eagles went one for two in the doubleheader.

The nightcap saw the Eagle boys do enough to upend the Warriors (1-10) by a 65-56 final score. They led 15-11 after one, 29-25 at half, and a 17-12 Keota third helped set up the three possession victory. The purple and gold shot 50% from the floor with Sawyer Stout collecting a game-high 22 points and five steals. Evan Vittetoe managed a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. They out rebounded HLV 30-25 and improve their record to 7-5 overall, 5-4 in the SICL.

It wasn’t the Eagle girls night, as they struggled throughout and fell to the Warriors 36-32. HLV’s (3-9) Kadynce DeMeulenare led all scorers with 17 points. Keota’s Macie McDonald had seven points and Taylor Kindred hauled in 13 boards. They are now 3-10 and 3-6 in the conference.

Both Keota teams travel to face North Mahaska tonight.
