Attendance returned to pre-pandemic levels for the Washington Fire Department’s largest annual fundraiser.

Fire Chief Brendan DeLong says their Pancake Day on January 12th served 675 people during lunch and 1,582 at supper for a total of 2,257 people. Pancake Day saw a smaller number of meals served last year due to the department offering drive through only with their total at about 1,600. This year’s numbers are slightly higher than the first pancake day in their new fire station in 2020 that served about 2,200, just before the pandemic’s impact on Iowa. DeLong thanks everyone for their support.
