The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams will entertain Camanche in Wellman Friday for a crossover River Valley Conference doubleheader. The Golden Hawk girls enter play with a 9-5 overall record, 24 hours removed from a 29-24 upset of No. 14 Monticello in Wellman. On the year, Mid-Prairie scores 49 per game and gives up 41 points, shooting 38% from the floor with 30 rebounds, 13 assists, steals and turnovers per game. Individually, Maddie Nonnenmann leads the way at 16 points per game. Amara Jones leads Mid-Prairie with five rebounds, four assists, and four steals per game.

The Camanche girls are 4-8 on the year. They fell to Cascade 56-17 on Tuesday. As a team the Storm average 33 points per game and give up 47 shooting 32% from the field, pulling in 20 rebounds, along with eight assists, eight steals and 21 turnovers per game. Emmerson Crigger is the team leader at 11 points per game. Aubrey Carstensen averages five rebounds, two assists and two steals per night.  Camanche has won six of the eight all-time meetings between the schools but the Hawks have won back to back games in the series including a 56-34 victory last year.

The boys contest is a top ten showdown. Mid-Prairie comes in 13-0 on the season after a 71-36 blowout win at Tipton Tuesday, led by 31 points from Carter Harmsen. The Hawks are ranked No. 6 in the latest class 2A poll from the Iowa Associated Press. The 13-0 start is their best to open a season since 1991. For the year, Mid-Prairie scores 66 per game and gives up 44, shooting 48% from the floor to go along with 31 rebounds, 14 assists, 10 steals and 10 turnovers per night. Harmsen leads the Hawks at 21 points and eight boards per night. Jack Pennington posts four assists and two steals per game.

Camanche is 12-1 on the year after beating Cascade 54-42 on Tuesday. The Storm is ranked No. 8 in class 2A in this week’s AP poll. For the year, they score 62 per game and give up 42 shooting 48% from the floor with 38 rebounds, 11 assists, 10 steals and nine turnovers per game. Individually, they are led by Adam Dunlap at 16 points per game. Zane Witt leads the team with eight reounbds and Tucker Dickherber has five assists and three steals per night. Camanche has won nine of the 10 all-time meetings between these two schools including a 67-55 district championship win last year.
