It was a Southeast Iowa Super Conference wrestling triangular in New London on Thursday with WACO sweeping two duals and Highland falling in both.
WACO defeated the host Tigers 39-34 and the Huskies 60-23. The Warriors went 6-7 in contested matches on the evening. Winners included Gage Samo at 106 lbs by a 6-4 decision, Junior Quiroz at 138 lbs by fall (4:54), Louden Huisenga at 145 lbs by fall (:27), Braden Spain at 152 lbs by fall (1:16), Kris Boone at 182 lbs by fall (:45), and Drew Diers at 195 lbs by fall (:19).
In addition to falling to the Warriors, Highland also lost to New London 41-12. In the two duals, they won three out of 14 contested matches. Easton Schlabaugh won both of his bouts at 113 lbs by a 16-0 technical fall and pin in 3:03. Spencer Grout had the other victory at 138 lbs by fall (1:11).
WACO moves the season dual record to 17-6 and Highland is now 3-9.
