A Columbus City man charged with operating while intoxicated third offense, a class D felony, was recently convicted on a lesser charge in Washington County.

Court documents show that 60-year-old Christopher Alan Stewart pleaded guilty to OWI second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. Stewart was ordered to serve up to two years in prison, all of which but seven days were suspended for him to be placed on two years of probation. His driver’s license was revoked, and he must pay a $1,875 fine with a 15% surcharge and Category B restitution.

Stewart was arrested in June 2021 after a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a vehicle stop at the intersection of 220th Street and Vine Avenue for no rear license plate lamp. He has previous Washington County OWI convictions from 2019 and 2017.
