The Highland boys and girls basketball teams protected their home court in Riverside Tuesday with a sweep of visiting Louisa-Muscatine. The Highland boys were a 39-34 winner. Defenses dominated early, with Highland holding a 4-2 lead after one and the Falcons tying the game at 14 at half. The Huskies asserted themselves in the third quarter with 15-7 run that spanned the entire period. L-M won the fourth quarter by three but their comeback attempt fell short. Highland had 11 steals in the game and held the Falcons to just 33% shooting. Chase Schultz scored a game high 18 points to lead the Dogs. The win avenges a 31-25 loss to the Falcons earlier this month. The win is the second of the year for Highland, they are 2-13. L-M is now 1-13.

The Highland girls won their second straight game with a 54-44 takedown of L-M. Highland got out fast, up 11-4 after one quarter and led 23-15 at half. The Falcons closed the deficit to 36-32 going to the fourth, but Highland put together their best offensive quarter when they needed it most, putting up 19 points in the final eight minutes to finish strong and record the win. A trio got to double figures for Highland, led by 17 points from Dani Laughlin, Jessica Kraus scored 15 off the bench and Abbi Stranky posted 14. The Highland girls are now 8-9 on the year, L-M is 11-3.
