The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams will try to continue as road warriors tonight when they travel to Wilton for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Beavers. This is the fourth straight roadie for the Golden Hawk girls who were rivalry winners at Washington Monday 47-27 with Maddie Nonnenmann eclipsing the 1,000 point mark for her career with a 15 point night and Amara Jones getting to double figures with 11. The Golden Hawks are 13-6 on the year, 12-5 in league play, winners of six of their last seven. They average 48 points per game, give up 40, shoot 38%, with 30 rebounds, 12 assists and 12 steals per game. Nonnenmann leads Mid-Prairie at 17 points per game. Jones has a team best four assists and four steals per night. Landry Pacha puts up six boards per night.

Wilton is 12-7 on the year, 9-7 in the RVC. They lost to Cascade Saturday 76-45. The loss snapped their four game winning streak. On the season, the Beavers are scoring 59 points per game and giving up 45, shooting 44% from the floor with 36 boards, 12 assists and 13 steals per night. Individual leaders include Kelsey Drake at 23 points, four assists and three steals per night. Ella Caffery grabs nine boards per game. Mid-Prairie beat the Beavers in Wellman 43-38 January 4th. Wilton has won six of the last eight in the series.

The Mid-Prairie boys enter play at 17-0 on the year, 15-0 in the River Valley Conference. The Golden Hawks are ranked No. 2 in class 2A in this week’s poll from the Iowa Associated Press and are out to their best start since going 21-0 to begin the 1991 season. The Golden Hawks erased a late road deficit Friday in Bellevue to win 54-45. The Hawks score 63 per game and give up 42, shooting 47% from the floor with 31 rebounds, 14 assists and nine steals per game. Individual leaders include Carter Harmsen at 21 points and nine boards per game. Jack Pennington has a team best three assists and two steals per night.

Wilton is 15-4 overall, 13-3 in the River Valley following Saturday’s 65-47 win over Cascade. The Beavers have won four in a row. They score 63 points per game and give up 51, shooting 48% from the floor with 33 rebounds, 15 assists, and nine steals per game. Individually, Caden Kirkman leads the Beavers with a double double average 21 points and 11 rebounds per night with four assists and four blocks per game. The Golden Hawks beat the Beavers January 4th in Wellman 62-51 and have won 12 straight in the series. A Mid-Prairie victory tonight clinches a share of the RVC South Division title.
