The Wellman-Scofield Public Library is inviting residents to join them with their current read and help support beginning readers this February.

In partnership with Usborne Books, the library will be holding a book drive to acquire new non-fiction, board, chapter and story books for the library. Director Erin Campbell says they have a goal of getting 100 new books with an emphasis on acquiring children’s books. Residents can help by purchasing or donating online and at the library. Beginning Thursday, February 20th, the library will be hosting a bi-weekly Bring Your Own Book club. Campbell says that there are no requirements to join and the group is open to all ages. She explains why they decided to host this club, “I hope that we can bring people together. I feel like with COVID we haven’t had those times where people can get together and kind of get to know each other. I feel like book clubs can be so structured that only certain people will want to join them because they may not want to be reading the same books. Everybody has a different taste in books. I personally find it interesting to see what other people are reading and to get to hear the type of books that they like.”

As Valentine’s Day approaches, the library will have take-and-make kits for residents to make their own valentines at home. Campbell says that there will also be a valentine craft station at the library and those with take and make kits will need to provide their own glue and markers.
