A former Kalona resident has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for drug conspiracy in Washington County.
Court documents show 31-year-old Matthew Allen Williams pleaded guilty to possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a class C felony, for an incident that occurred in 2018. Williams is committed to the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility, and his sentence shall run concurrently with a 10-year sentence for a class C felony drug violation in Keokuk County. He must pay a $1,000 fine with a 15% surcharge, and Category B restitution was waived. A count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, a class D felony, was dismissed with costs assessed to the defendant. Williams was arrested last November for the offenses after a search warrant was executed in the 2500 block of Redwood Avenue in Washington. Bags containing 4.56 grams of methamphetamine and 7.88 grams of marijuana, $1,500 cash, and other paraphernalia were found, and charges were filed on June 30, 2021.
