The calendar has turned to February and action on the hard court heats up tonight in Kalona with the classic Lone Tree, Hillcrest Academy rivalry in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader. The Raven girls come into the game with an overall mark of 1-16 on the year and 0-14 in league play. Hillcrest was beaten at Highland Tuesday 48-24. On the season, the Ravens average 28 points per game and give up 49, shooting 26% from the floor, with 24 rebounds, three assists, six steals and 15 turnovers per game. Esther Hughes leads the individual stat lines with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals per game.

Lone Tree is 6-14 on the season and 4-11 in conference play. Last time out they knocked off Columbus Tuesday 53-35. The Lady Lions score 35 points per game and give up 50, shooting 27% from the floor, with 26 rebounds, six assists, 10 steals and 24 turnovers per night. Individual leader for Lone Tree is Kasey Chown scoring 13 points and pulling in eight rebounds per night. These two teams met in Lone Tree January 4th with the Lions scoring a 52-40 win behind Chown’s game high 23 points.

The Hillcrest boys are 13-4 this year and 11-3 in the Superconference. They won at Highland Tuesday 69-49 to complete a season sweep of the Huskies. On the year the Ravens are scoring 52 points per game and giving up 43 while shooting 49% from the floor, pulling in 23 rebounds, eight steals to go with 13 assists and 14 turnovers per game. Grant Bender paces the Ravens with 18 points and six boards per game, Luke Schrock leads the Hillcrest guard court at three assists and three steals per night.

The Lone Tree boys are 5-13 this year, 3-11 and in the Superconference, dropping their Tuesday game to Columbus 75-56. On the season the Lions team numbers see them score 41 a night and give up 52, shooting 31% from the floor with 27 rebounds, seven assists, seven steals and 14 turnovers per game. Individual Lion leaders include Adam Knock and Cade Patterson each at 10 points and two assists per game and Tyler Bell with five boards per night. These two met in early January with Hillcrest taking a 69-44 road win behind 26 points from Grant Bender and 16 from Luke Schrock.
