An area Southeast Iowa Super Conference basketball doubleheader took place in Lone Tree on Tuesday with the Lions splitting the action against Columbus Community. 

The girls’ game was a methodical 53-35 triumph for the home Lions where they built a 26-18 halftime advantage, 35-26 at the end of three, and closed with a 19-11 fourth quarter to cap off the win. Avery Lisk knocked down four triples to finish with 16 points for Lone Tree and Kasey Chown also recorded 16. Frannie Sosa had a 10 point effort to lead the Wildcats and Lily Coil brought in seven rebounds. The Lions managed the season sweep of the Wildcats and improved to 6-14 overall and 4-11 in the SEISC. Columbus is now 3-16 and 2-13 in the league. 

The Columbus boys got their second win against Lone Tree with a high scoring 75-56 . They hurried out to a 21-8 advantage after one and kept a 30-24 lead at the break. Columbus utilized a 23-12 fourth quarter to close out the victory. All five starters finished in double figures with Grant Watson collecting 19 points, Tim Hills and Marco Martinez each had 15, while Jeff Hoback and Daniel Martinez managed 10 points. Cade Patterson led the Lions with 15 points. Columbus is now 4-14 and 4-10 in the conference. Lone Tree is 5-13 and 3-11 in the SEISC.
