It was an emphatic start to the postseason for the Keota boys’ basketball team on Friday when they throttled Tri-County 62-18 in a class 1A play-in game at English Valleys High School.
It didn’t take long for the Eagles to grab ahold of this one, as they punished the Trojans (1-20) to a 26-0 start after one and opened up a 43-8 halftime advantage. The final two quarters never got any closer and the whole Eagle bench joined the fun with 10 players finding the score column. Sawyer Stout led the offense with 19 points and Cole Kindred added 14. Head Coach Dan Stout tells KCII Sports he couldn’t have asked for a better start. “I thought defensively early on was great. It can’t be much better if you don’t allow a team to score. We caused turnovers and got some layups. That allowed us to see the ball go through the basket and helped build confidence to hit the outside shot. The kids were having fun and we did a lot of good things.”
Keota improves to 11-11 and they advance to the first round tonight at WACO (17-4).
