Nine student-athletes from the KCII listening area have made it to the mat for this year’s Iowa High School Athletic Association’s State Wrestling Championships in Des Moines.

In the class 1A division, Highland Huskies Easton Schlabaugh and Carlos Valenzuela, WACO Warriors Louden Huisenga and Jonah Clark, and Sigourney-Keota’s Reanah Utterback, Cade Molyneux, and Conner Reed are all contenders. Utterback is the fifth girl wrestler to ever qualify for boys state. In class 2A, Mid-Prairie’s Gannon Callahan and Columbus Community/Winfield-Mt. Union’s Lane Scorpil are qualifiers.
