The Washington Demon and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk archery teams had Cedar Rapids Prairie in their cross hairs last weekend for the CR Prairie Bullseye and 3D Tournaments. The Demon high schoolers finished third of nine teams in the bullseye shoot with their score 3289, the title went to Prairie in their home gym with a 3343. Jonathan Moore was the individual boys champion with a 288 day that included 21 tens. Madison Conway was the top girl taking sixth in the overall with a 280 that included 13 tens. The Demons were fourth of six schools in 3D with a 1572. Prairie also won this side of the event with a 1683. Moore paced the Washington boys here as well, finishing fifth with a 280 round that included 15 tens. Allison Rees had the top girls round with a 257 with seven tens for 19th place.
Washington’s Middle School crew finished second of eight teams in the bullseye contest with a 3195, dropping the team tiebreaker and title to Solon who finished with the same score. Top score for Washington came from girls competition runner-up Lily Brown with a 275 day that included 14 tens. Quintyn Garibay had the top boys round with a 274 that included 13 tens to take sixth overall. The Demons also finished as runners-up in the middle school 3D contest with a team score of 1567, just eight behind champion Prairie. Braydon Clough was the top boys archer with a 270 that included 12 tens to take fifth overall. Gabrielle Andrew was the girls overall runner-up with a 263 that included nine tens.
Lincoln’s Elementary archers finished second of three squads in the bullseye contest with a 2748, Iowa City West won the event with a 2890. Top Demon elementary shooters were the Pierces. Miriam and Mason Pierce each shot 251s, Miriam with eight tens and Mason with seven to finish third and fifth in the girls and boys contests respectively. In the 3D elementary contest, Washington was the lone school to post a team score with Lincoln shooting a 1322. Zach Hotchkiss won the contest with a 239 that included four tens. Bella Venenga had the top Washington girls score in third with a 236 that included four tens.
The Mid-Prairie High School archers were ninth of nine teams with a 3147 bullseye score. The Hawks were led by individual girls champion Zoe Fisher with her 284 that included 17 tens. Zane Fisher was the top boys shooter with a 281 that included 16 tens for 13th place. The Golden Hawks were sixth in the team 3D scoring with a 1547. The Fishers led the way here as well with Zane’s round of 278 with 17 tens to finish seventh overall for the boys and Zoe’s 265 with nine tens for 11th overall. The Middle School Hawks were seventh of eight teams in the bullseye shoot with a 2973 score. Individual leaders were boys runner-up Elijah Statler with a 283 round with 14 tens, Lael Seale was the top girl Golden Hawk with a 12 tens and a 270 round for sixth overall. The Golden Hawks were fourth of five teams in the 3D contest with a 1508. Top individual performers were again Statler and Seale. Statler was third overall with a 275 including 14 tens and Seale 11th with a 252 round that included six tens. The Golden Hawk Elementary schoolers finished third with a score of 2482 in the bullseye shoot. Mya Brenneman was fourth for the girls overall with a 247 that included eight tens and Morgan Northup led the Mid-Prairie boys with a 219 round with three tens to take 19th. The Golden Hawks did not post an elementary 3D score. Individually they were led by James Anseth as boys runner-up with a 237 score and six tens.
