A buzzsaw ended the WACO girls’ basketball season last night when they traveled to face No. 7 Burlington Notre Dame in a class 1A region 6 quarterfinal and the Nikes rolled to a 67-28 victory.
Notre Dame got out to a quick 16-4 start after one when an 8-2 Warrior run to start the second cut it to six. That was the only momentum WACO would have all night, as the Nikes closed the half on a 17-2 spurt to lead 35-14 and it was 60-21 by the end of three en route to the 39 point final margin. This was the 11th straight win for the Nikes over their SEISC foe in the Warriors. Ellah Kissell led WACO with 11 points.
BND improves to 21-0 and they will host Winfield-Mt. Union in the semifinal on Friday. The Warriors wrap up the season 10-13, their most wins since 2018. They say goodbye to a pair of seniors in Jakayla Vradenburg and Breonna Gentry.
