A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested for an alleged domestic abuse assault incident Tuesday.

Court documents show 44-year-old Robyn Elizabeth Hoppman of Riverside is charged with domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury first offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. The criminal complaint states at about 10:46 p.m. the Washington County Communications Center received a call of a possible domestic altercation at 80 North Washington Street in Riverside. Sheriff’s deputies responded and requested Iowa State Patrol to assist due to Hoppman being a deputy. Upon arrival law enforcement were advised that both subjects had injuries. Hoppman alleged that there was no argument or physical altercation, and the other party stated that they had been hit and kicked numerous times and had their head slammed into the tile multiple times by Hoppman. The victim sustained abrasions and bumps to her head and indicated that she had injuries to her back and shoulder which were not visible.

Washington County Attorney John Gish filed a request Wednesday morning to appoint Louisa County Attorney Adam Parsons as special prosecutor for the case. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
