The Highland FFA chapter is bringing fun and food to the Husky community as a part of National FFA week.

Throughout the week, students and staff will be participating in dress up days that include Tuesday’s red versus green, Western Wednesday, official FFA dress day Thursday and flannel Friday. The chapter will be hosting their first-ever community breakfast Thursday morning from 7 to 8:15 a.m. at the high school with dine in and carry out options available for a free-will donation. All funds raised will go towards helping send FFA students to the state convention in April. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, sausage and those dining in will also be able to enjoy coffee, water, orange juice or milk with their meal. FFA Advisor Gina Trower says that in past years the breakfast was only for school staff but the students want to now open it up to their supporters, “The community has always been there for us as FFA. Our sponsors have been there from local businesses so this is just kind of how the kids wanted to really give back. Especially after helping out the past couple of years. This is only the fifth year the chapter has been in existence for Highland FFA. So the community has really helped get us started and get the ball rolling with the chapter and send our kids to national convention and other trips to other conferences by sponsoring.”

Students and staff will gather Friday afternoon to close out school festivities with the Ag Olympics. Sixth grade students and up will participate in a number of competitions including the find the straw challenge, hit the nail on the head relay race, square dance musical chairs and the redneck rumble dodgeball tournament. FFA officers will cap off the week Saturday by assisting with the Washington County Soybean, Corn and Cattlemen Association banquet at the Washington Knights of Columbus Hall.
