Students and staff in the Mid-Prairie School District are taking the opportunity to recognize and celebrate members of their FFA chapter as a part of National FFA week.
Throughout the week, students and staff have participated in dress up days that include country versus country club, anything but a backpack, FFA pride and Case IH versus John Deere. The week has also included a “Find a FFA member” scavenger hunt and an assembly where students participate in games such as the human wheelbarrow, bale race, rope a chair, relay races and an obstacle course. FFA member Anna Nafziger explains who the assembly will feature, “We’re gonna highlight some of the kids that have gotten their Iowa Degree either in the past or are gonna get them this year at the state convention. We’ll recognize some of the officers and just some of the community service projects or other activities that we’ve done in our chapter this year.”
Earlier this month, members of the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter joined over 600 high school students from 100 different schools for the 37th annual Legislative Symposium and FFA Day at the state capitol. Nafziger says they watched Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds sign the FFA week proclamation and spoke to State Senator Kevin Kinney of District 39 about the legislative process. Looking ahead to the rest of the school year, Nafziger said the chapter is looking forward to the state convention in April, elementary school visits, middle school recruitment and the year end banquet.
