Eight Washington Demons have advanced to the Iowa High School Speech Association’s state individual contest following their appearance at the district contest held Saturday at Tri-County High School.
Ten students performed a total of 14 entries. Those who received a Division I rating sealing their fate for state were Keegan Colby in acting and poetry, Rita Du in musical theater, Bailey Rees in musical theater, Molly Klinzman in storytelling and original oratory, Mathew Osborn in poetry, Quinn Wubbena in musical theater and storytelling, Kyann Miller in acting, and Charlotte Windmill in review. Coaches AnnaMarie Ward and John Petrzelka share that they are very proud of all of their students’ hard work and are excited to see what they do next. The state contest takes place on March 12th in Grinnell with the All-State Individual Festival on March 28th at the University of Northern Iowa.
