Three high school basketball players and one coach from the KCII listening area will take the floor in the Pizza Ranch All-Star basketball games March 26th. On the southeast Iowa boys roster are Washington Demon Kasen Bailey and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk Carter Harmsen. Bailey, a senior guard for Washington, was ninth in class 3A at five assists per game this year. He finished third in the Southeast Conference with a 42.5% mark from downtown, was fourth in the league at the line at 78% and finished fifth in the conference scoring 15.2 points per game. Bailey helped lead the Demons to their third consecutive conference title. Bailey will play collegiate basketball at Northwestern College in Orange City.

Harmsen, a senior forward for the Golden Hawks scored 20 points per game, seventh most in class 2A. His 8.3 boards per night were fifth in the state to go along with two assists and two steals per game. He shot 52% from the floor and 35% from three. He finished third on the all-time scoring list for Mid-Prairie. Harmsen was part of a Mid-Prairie team that won a school record 24 consecutive games, the program’s first conference title since 2009 and helped the Hawks reach the state tournament for the first time in 12 seasons. Harmsen is undecided on his plans for next year.

On the sideline for the southeast Iowa boys team will be Golden Hawk head coach Daren Lambert. Lambert, who just completed his sixth year at Mid-Prairie, led the Golden Hawks to a 24-1 record, the school’s first unbeaten regular season since 1991, their first conference title since 2009 and the first district title and state appearances since 2010. Joining those three on the southeast team’s roster are Amarion Davis of Burlington, Dewon Trent from Mt. Pleasant, Ryan Dolphin of Pleasant Valley, Pete Moe of Iowa City West, Dayton Davis of Ft. Madison, Karl Miller of Pella, Mason Scheve of Pleasantville, Adam Dunlap of Camanche, Kaden Hall of English Valleys and Maddox Griffin of Wapello and coach Caleb Akey of Burlington.

Maddie Nonnenmann will represent the listening area on the southeast Iowa girls roster. Nonnenmann, who just concluded her senior year at Mid-Prairie, finished 10th in class 3A at 16 points per game. She shot 39% from the floor with five rebounds, two assists and two steals per game. Nonnenmann finished fourth on the all-time scoring list at Mid-Prairie with 1,066 points and led the Hawks to the regional finals in 2022. She is undecided on her future plans. Joining her on the roster are Kaylee Corbin of Louisa-Muscatine, Kelsey Drake from Wilton, Layla Hargis of North Mahaska, Megan Harrell of Burlington Notre Dame, Delaynie Luneckas of West Branch, Allison Meadows Central DeWitt, Malarie Ross Ft. Madison, Ivey Schmidt Grinnell, Abby Wolter Keokuk and Emma Ingersoll Weng of Iowa City West, under the direction of coaches Matt Bolger of Tipton and Curt Watson of Mt. Pleasant.

Action will take place Saturday, March 26th at Dallas Center Grimes High School. First games will begin at 10:15a.m. There will also be a three point contest.
