After two years of cancellations the Women in Ag Conference is returning to Washington next week with the theme, “Setting the Table for Success.”
The Washington County ISU Extension office with the Washington County Women in Agriculture Advisory Board hosts the event, with the goal this year to show women of all ages how they can set their table for success in agriculture by surrounding themselves with the right people and resources to make informed decisions. Advisory Board member and Extension Field Agronomist Rebecca Vittetoe shares how she feels to finally host their fourth Women in Ag Conference, “We’re definitely excited to be able to offer it again. I know in 2021 we had to cancel it, all of us were really sad and it wasn’t an easy decision, but definitely a decision we had to make given the time. But we’re really excited that we can be back in person and excited to see folks again and reconnect with people who have come and attended the conference in the past and hopefully make new connections with people who maybe haven’t been to the conference before but are going to join us this year.”
The event will feature four speakers, with some humor on who should be around the table from “Iowa Nice Guy” Scott Seipker, Grain Market Economist Elaine Kub will discuss the makeup and motivations of the grain market’s most influential players and pinpoint some price opportunities, Steve Bohr with Farm Financial Strategies, Inc. will discuss farm succession and transition planning, and Extension Dairy Specialist Larry Tranel who holds a degree in pastoral psychology, will help give attendees some pointers on how to better manage stress.
Early registration is due this Thursday with a fee of $25 for adults and $15 for students. The conference will take place March 26th at the Washington Knights of Columbus Hall and will include a light breakfast and lunch, and a wine tasting to conclude for those 21 and older.
